Our Story

Building a regenerative future for rural India.

From a grassroots initiative in Sehore to a growing movement across Madhya Pradesh — here's who we are and how we got here.

India's rural economy still runs on the shoulders of small and marginal farmers. But rising cultivation costs, declining soil health and climate variability are making conventional farming harder to sustain.

NISARG Foundation was registered in 2020 as a Section-8 non-profit to respond to exactly this — by addressing Society, Economy and Environment together, rather than in isolation. We work on livelihoods, natural resource conservation, education and community participation, so that rural transformation is led by the communities it serves.

Vision

A dignified society where communities contribute towards a prosperous environment — ensuring harmony between human development and nature.

Mission

To promote sustainable rural development by strengthening livelihoods, empowering communities and conserving natural resources through environmentally responsible agriculture.

Our journey

Building a movement for regenerative agriculture.

2020

Foundation established

NISARG Foundation launches with a mission to transform agriculture through regenerative practices, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment.

2021

Grassroots engagement begins

First community initiatives launched, working with farmers and tribal communities to understand local challenges and co-create solutions for sustainable livelihoods.

2022

Deepening impact and awareness

Programmes scale across regions with focus on farmer orientation, soil health restoration, and climate-resilient agriculture practices.

2023

Change in Strategy

NISARG expands to new agricultural regions, bringing regenerative farming practices, soil testing initiatives, and organic farming programmes to more communities.

Now

Active transformation and scaling

Running comprehensive farmer orientation programmes, soil testing labs, and organic farming initiatives across multiple regions with measurable impact on farmer incomes and environmental health.

2026 – 2031

Scaling regenerative agriculture practices to reach 10 lakh farmers across India.
